As one of the UK's leading fashion trade shows, Scoop is recognised by designers, fashion buyers and industry experts as the go-to event for showcasing the most exciting collections. This season, Karen Radley - founder and MD of Scoop - collaborated with Pure London to present Scoop X Pure at The Truman Brewery.

Scoop X Pure, The Truman Brewery, London

Karen said, ”I am thrilled at the number of inspiring and new collections at the show. We have had such a wonderful opening day with really great feedback from exhibitors and visitors.”

Scoop is renowned internationally for its exclusive presentation and expertly curated edit of fashion designers and labels from the UK and the rest of the world, many of whom select the show as their launch pad. The show welcomes premium department stores from across the globe including Harvey Nichols, Brown Thomas, John Lewis, Voisins, Galeries Lafayette, Beymen, ASOS and Le Bon Marche as well as independent boutiques such as Bernard’s, Aria, Found, Iris, Jules B, and Courtyard.

Alongside familiar returning labels, the event introduced many new designers that just launched their brands exhibiting their collections and were excited to talk about their story behind their brand and inspirations. The event was a great opportunity for guests to get a first look at the latest in fashion and to network with industry.

My focus this season will be introducing fresh talent and new designer collections with a strong focus on sustainability.

We stopped to talk to some of these returning and emerging brands.

Collier Campbell

“We are passionate about colour and pattern and we want to make fabulous design and great quality products available to everyone.”

Judy Lever, executive chairman

Collier Campbell was started in the ’60s by two sisters, Susan and Sarah Campbell and taken over a few years ago by Judy Lever.

Over the years they have worked with major brands; Yves Saint Laurent, Conran, Liberty and Jaeger to name but a few.

Their iconic designs have now been used on their new collection of scarves, that feature a wide variety of designs, from soft florals to abstract prints and geometric patterns. All the designs are hand-painted, giving them a special distinctive and individual feel, making them perfect for luxury gift-giving. You can feel the heart of the designer come through each brushstroke, making them so unique, using pure silk, wool, and linen, producing a high-quality product.

Atypical Attire

A new independent UK brand just launched a week before the Scoop event. Founder Zenobia McIntyre said she had one goal on mind,

“..to revolutionise the way people view socks!”

Atypical Attire is all about injecting fun, playfulness, and creativity into its sock designs. She strives to explore new design possibilities and push the boundaries of what a sock is, how it can be made and how it can be worn. Her socks are not just another essential item of clothing – they are statement pieces that add personality to any outfit.

She creates new styles of construction and incorporates fashion accessories and embellishments never before seen on socks. This allows entry to new territory within the fashion industry and creates truly unique pieces. The socks are made to be eye-catching and distinctive, so you can stand out from the crowd no matter what you’re wearing.

Complex Minds

Martin Ofume and Johnny Michaels, co-founders at Complex Minds

A leading studio, showroom and brand agency were excited to present NEON, Young Poets Society, Esme Studios and lifestyle brand Smith and Goat.

NEON

“We’re the paint. It’s for someone to apply it to their canvas, to their style,”

– Co-owner, designer and art director Raif Adelberg

Johnny Michaels, the co-founder of Complex Minds, introduces NEON and talks through the background of Vancouver based brand owner Raif Adelburg, who’s designed for celebrities such as Rhianna, Jenifer Lopez and Halle Berry, and teamed up with Colton Showers offering their product line at an affordable price. Adelburg took his background, a mixture of skate, surf, punk and rock and applied it to the luxury world, in this case, their denim line.

Young Poets Society

The well-established Tigha brand was initially creating leather jackets, which they were known for. However, they re-evaluated the rapid changing times and their consumers' needs and tastes, which evolved into Young Poets Society a year ago in 2021.

YPS is about everyone being an unpublished poet, being more expressive, we are all more expressive with digital creation and content, and this brand is embedded in that world.

"Everyone is a poet in their own right.." Says Johnny Michaels

Expect imagination for all seasons and collections for all genders that move and inspire with the times, constantly evolving.

Other brands they represented included Esmé Studios, launched in the UK in 2021, a lifestyle brand that encourages its customers to:

"buy less, buy better."

The company produces high-quality, eco-friendly materials ethically and socially responsible. Esmé is all about promoting sustainability and helping customers find stylish, comfortable pieces that last whether you're looking for everyday basics or something special.

"We have had an amazing reaction to the collection and a great synergy with the buyers."

Ratti

Karen Radley commented on creating a dazzling, flamboyant, colourful backdrop with a Ratti design and a matching chic ladies scarf.

Founded in 1945, the company specialises in making silk, cashmere, linen, wool, and cotton fabrics. Ratti produces most of its materials for women's apparel and fashion accessories such as ties and scarves, but it also makes fabrics for home furnishings. They step up and grow each year, anticipating the market and trends exhibiting at several trade exhibitions worldwide.

Laura See London

“Our shoes are about you.”

Laura See, founder and designer

Founder Laura See based her designs on women who want to feel confident, beautiful and comfortable. Her focus and inspiration come from positive, fun and fearless women who appreciate quality, style and comfort. Her shoes are hand made in Italy with a splash of her artwork.

Her iconic logo is the hummingbird, featured on every shoe. Despite being the smallest of all birds, it symbolises freedom, power and beauty, a sign of determination and strength.

We asked Laura where she sees her business in the next five years:

“I would love my own store! Then also to be stocked by independent boutiques. I would love to have a bar in the middle where women can come and socialise and enjoy spending time choosing and trying on the shoes.”

The February 2022 Scoop X Pure collaboration had a hugely successful A/W 2022 trade show. The venue, the Truman Brewery, a new location for both, drew in an impressive turnout of fashion industry retail partners and independent boutiques. All exhibitors were thrilled to have been able to bring their unique aesthetic to the market, featuring a range of contemporary looks that were well-received by the audience.

We can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!
